retake SAT as college freshman?

I am going to attend a JC for a year and hopefully transfer. I was wondering since the school only has record of your first semester in the college, do they also look at your high school grades/test scores? I got a 1670 on SAT (M:630 CR:530 W:510) and a 28 (/w a 35 in math) on ACT. I feel that i can do much better on the SAT now, but english is always a problem for me. So would retaking the SAT under a new account be worth it?
If you think it is worth it, can you give me tips on ways to improve my writing and crit. reading? One problem with me was that i never really took school seriously until 11th grade, so my knowledge with all the English rules is quite ridiculous.

ayyy muchacho  bump hehe

You can retake either the SAT or ACT if you want, but you can’t do that under a “new” account. They use your social security number. All previous scores will be sent along with the new ones (except ACT, which has score choice). But…schools don’t care. They only take your highest score.

If your English skills are so poor, take one, if not two, English classes in your first semester at JC. Make one a college writing class, and other a standard English class.

In the meantime, you can get a tutor for English and study English grammar rules. I have a book called Grammar Smart that’s pretty helpful.

the thing is, would it be worth it to retake the SAT/ACT? would colleges still look at it if you are planning on doing a 1 year transfer out of a JC?
Thanks 98jhfg for the improving english tips.

Excellent grades at the JC are more meaningful to colleges that your performance on a high school exam.
