Retake SAT with 5 on AP?

Last October, I took the SAT (my first and only time so far) and got a 800 math, 800 writing, but 660 CR :frowning: .Just yesterday, I called in collegeboard and found out I got a 5 on the AP Language and Composition.

I’ve been thinking of retaking the SAT because of the Critical Reading score (hopefully to a 740+), but I’m swamped over the summer (international research, summer school, college essay, volunteer, etc).

I’m hoping to apply to top universities - not HYPSM, but some Ivies and similar caliber schools (Pomona, Northwestern, Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, etc).

Is it worth it to retake the SAT just to improve my CR score or will my 5 on the AP Language and Composition test kind of make up for that?

No it won’t really make up for that, you should probably retake the test. And why not? You don’t necessarily even have to study massive amounts for it next time you take it. Take it again in October - what’s the worst that could happen? (Even if your score drops, with score choice you don’t have to send it in)

the choice to retake it or not should not be based on your AP score, because in my opinion AP Lang and SAT reading are not really the same. Look at the median CR scores of the schools to which you’re applying. if you’re too far towards the low end for comfort, retake it. If you think you’re ok, don’t.
