<p>If you have the time to study for them and want to apply to elite schools then do it, if not it’s probably a waste of time that you could use to do something constructive.</p>

<p>i would say contact the schools you are applying to. I know of some schools that dont require them if you have a good reason, and you seem to have one. Ask the schools and see what they say, especially the older you are the greater chance they’ll let it slide.</p>
