Retake the ACT?

Hello! I’m new to posting here, but I have been lurking on the forums for a while.

I’m a junior in high school and recently got my 2nd ACT scores back. My first time taking the ACT was June after my freshman year and I scored a 31 without really studying (I had taken the exam for the experience and hadn’t expected to do so well). My breakdown was 35 reading, 34 English, 29 science, and 24 math. My second time around, I only raised my composite score to a 32, but I significantly raised my STEM score and also took the writing. My score breakdown was 33 reading (small drop, was a little disappointed), 35 English, 34 science, 27 math, and 9 on writing.

I was really happy that I was able to raise my STEM score so much, especially science. However, I plan on studying biomedical engineering in college and am a little concerned that my math score isn’t high enough, especially when you compare it to how i score on the other 3 subjects. I don’t have my heart set on any Ivies or T20 schools, though. Right now, Cal Poly SLO and University of Washington are top picks of mine, and University of Utah is my in-state school with a decent biomed program.

My question is, would it be necessary or advantageous for me to retake the ACT? My mom is encouraging me to study up on math and take the June test.
