Retake?

<p>Hi, I have taken the SAT twice during my high school career.</p>

<p>These are my 2 breakdowns.
May 2010 SAT
710 CR
640 Math
640 Writing
Total:1990</p>

<p>May 2011 SAT
700 Cr
740 Math
800 Writing (80 MC 9 essay)
Total:2240</p>

<p>I am a rising junior, and is worth it to retake the SAT, or should I focus on my ECs which are a bit weak? I think my Math+CR is a little bit weak. I also know that if I retake I will not get 800 in writing again.
Also, not sure if this is too relevant but I am African American. I am interested in ivies, and other top schools.</p>

<p>2240 is higher than the average at nearly every college, so it would probably be a waste of your time and money to try raising it. If I were you, I’d focus more on subject tests, EC’s, and your essays (and if you want to try the ACT to see if you can get a 34 or higher, go for that too). I think that if colleges see that you got a 2240 and you still want a higher score, they’re goign to think you focused too much on SAT scores and not as much on the other parts of your app.</p>

<p>Oh, and being African-American will definitely be a huge help.</p>
