Hi, I’m an international student from Asia. I took the October Lit and got a 650.
Is this score competitve for a non-English speaking student applying to the Ivies? Sorry if I sound like a snob, but I got an 800 CR and had my expectations too high.

Retaking SAT would mean the cost of plane tickets since my region(you know where) has no SAT test centers.

As for which subject to take/retake, I don’t know how much I can improve on literature since I had already prepared it in the best way I could. Should I prepare for US history and take it for the first time instead? This will mean a lot of work to me since I’ve never studied US History in school.

Also there’s a lot of school work to catch up on.

I have a similar situation… I messed up my math II… Not as low as 650, but it’s still messed up. I got good math score on ACT, so hoping it to cover my low SAT II score up. I wish I can take it for November again, but the late registration is over… But the problem is, my USH score isn’t high enough, either. lol
And you don’t have to worry about sounding like a snob, because 650 IS really low for Ivy. I’m messed with all these test scores. And if you are a senior, stick with what you took. If you are junior, stick with what you took and if you have more time, try USH. If you are a sophomore, do whatever you wanna do.

I heard from an talk (from an admission officer directly) that it depends on what you mean by “non-English speaking applicant”. For example, if none of your family, friends etc. speak it and you self studied it yourself somehow (using an extreme example here), they would definitely view your 650 different.

Oh god I’m happy to hear this, since i feel like that’s really my case.
I have studied in a traditional Asian national program for all my life, and the English education quality is absolutely terrible in my school. I prepared for it all by myself and had so much fun in preparing it.
My parents and friends speak really terrible English, no way they can teach me English.
