i recieved a D in alegbra 2 my junior year second semester but I am retaking the class my senior year so does that rule out all UC’s and CSU’s because they dont accept D’s. which is really disappointing because that is my first D ever in highschool, i have a 3.0 academically and 3.3 weighted and 3.1 overall (with electives etc.) ACT: 24 and im taking the SAT soon.

As of now, you have not met the minimum a-g course requirements due to the D in Algebra 2. Retaking Senior year will replace that D, but you still need to report the grade on your applications and it will be included in your CSU/UC GPA. Why did you not retake during the summer?

Is your UC GPA 3.3? I will be honest that your chances at a UC are slim, possibly UC Merced, especially since you have not passed the minimum level of Math required. Any competitive CSU’s will be an issue also for the same reason.

- I am assuming you have not taken any other Math class higher than Algebra 2? If you have, CSU/UC’s allow for grade validation which states a passing grade in a higher level Math class will validate a below C grade in the lower level class.

- I would concentrate your efforts on applying to non-impacted CSU’s whom may be more forgiving with the D since your final grade will not be available until after admission decisions are made in the Spring.

Good luck and have you contacted your GC in regards to this issue?
retaking the class summer costs 500 dollars because it wasnt a fail which is money I didnt have and no higher math classes besides alegbra this is really my only weak subject I struggle with math and specifically what are some non impacted CSU’s? and no but i will contact him!
I gave you a link to the non-impacted and impacted CSU campuses and majors. Look at Monterey Bay, Channel Islands, Stanislaus, East Bay, Bakersfield to name a few.
oh i see it thanks!
Several of the ‘impacted’ campuses like Sacramento, and perhaps Sonoma are also worth a look. SJSU will also work for many majors. They post last year’s admissuon threshold by major here"

okay thank you.So my chances aren’t totally screwed at the CSU’s?
You are only “screwed” if you do not get a passing grade in the retake and the rest of your Senior classes.
Good Luck.
You have to pass all the a-g courses with a C or better before you graduate high school. If you don’t you aren’t eligible for the system - no matter what your SAT and GPA.
Algebra 2 is on the a-g list. Do what it takes to pas the class. A peer tutor, and STUDY
