Hi I am an international with A-levels(British patterned system) background. I just received my results of AS-Level(Junior Year). They are ABCC, now i am planning to retake the C ones since my B is on very high percentage(79) and it will easily be converted into A in my final results.
Now I want to know how do Top US universities like Harvard look toward students who are retaking their exams to improve grades. I am planning to apply to Harvard this year. Please help.

Yes they do - all top US universities do for that matter.

When your school is sending in grade transcripts of your results, it will have to mention what modules you re-sat as part of your AS and/or A2 Levels.

Its obviously a bad thing, as your effectively taking a second shot at the same exam to improve your grades - when you have the competition as tough as that when applying to Harvard (particularly from the international scene), it certainly won’t look good as there are many others who have the top grades through only one sitting.

Also, you have to have two separate grade transcripts for your A-levels; one for the results you obtained in your AS, and one for your A2 results - thus Harvard (or any other university), will know you got ABCC at AS, regardless of whether you re-sit the exams and pull the B to an A in your last year at school.
