You can fulfill the IGETC requirements by either a Pass mark (if your college states that it’s the equivalent of a C or higher) or a letter grade of C or better in any of the IGETC categories. In your case, assuming your college’s policy is that a pass is the equivalent of at least a C they’ll accept that for IGETC. Frankly, if that’s the case it doesn’t really matter which Humanities class they consider for IGETC, both satisfy the requirement which is what they’re looking for. Which class they’ll see for IGETC doesn’t really matter, but they’ll see the mark from which ever college you get your IGETC certified from. If you have to get it certified at both then they’ll probably see both because one college is going to take the requirement from the classes you took at their school and the other will do the same. Ultimately it doesn’t matter though if you’re submitting your grades from both schools. When they go over your transcripts in the spring they’ll see both and that’s when they care about what grades you’ve gotten.

dilapidatedmind, I have one more question, but first, thank you for responding:

So, should I bother with taking this humanities course? I was thinking that it would “one-up” the “pass” grade that I got in the previous humanities course. I don’t want to waste my time taking a class that is not needed.

^^There really isn’t much of a point in “one upping” a course that you’ve already passed. As far as they’re concerned you passed the course and unless it’s a major requirement or major relevant course there’s no point in taking another class that satisfies the same core requirement, at least not for admissions purposes. Now, if your major is humanities or something related and if you’re applying to the one of the top tier UCs, it always helps to be able to show that you’re interested in the field your studying by taking relevant classes besides your major pre-reqs. Otherwise I would say there’s really no point in taking a similar class, unless you have extra time on your hands and you know you’ll get an easy A to boost your GPA. Since the majority of the UCs focus mainly on your transferable GPA, any easy A you can get regardless of the subject will help. However, if you’re taking courses you don’t have to and you don’t have your pre-reqs completed already, it’s best to complete all of your pre-reqs first then fool around taking as many humanities classes as you want.
