Retaking the ACT and scoring lower?

I have a composite ACT of 30. I’m retaking the ACT on Saturday. What if I score significantly lower? I have to put down the colleges I’m applying to on the score reporting form so I don’t have the option of withholding my scores. Even if I send in my previous ACT score, I’m TERRIFIED of ending up with a 26 or 27… Will submitting a lower score reflect negatively on me? Should I cancel my registration? Help!!

The ACT is mainly based on what you know. I think it is pretty tough for someone that scored a 30 to score lower after they’ve learned more. In my case, I scored a 30 in high school and brought it up to a 34 in college. You should be fine.

Why can’t you withhold your scores? Deadlines?

for ACT…only one score report will be needed to be sent–that score report will have only one score…they will never know how many times you have taken the ACT and how you’ve scored except the one you send in…so keep a copy of your score report of the ACT score 30 and take the test this Saturday confidently. You’ll be fine…be well-rested and well-fed.
