Retiring Professor Leaves Legacy to USC Library

<p>Dr. Moshe Lazar retired from his position as a professor in the Dornsife college and chairman of the comparitive literature department this month. He has left a lasting legacy to USC, his personal extensive library of more than 15,000 books. </p>

<p>The collection encompasses everything from French and Provencal literature to books about anti-Semitism. The collection is broad and valuable. One rare edition is valued at $50,000.</p>

<p>Professor Lazar came to USC in 1977 and was appointed chairman of the comparative literature department. He received his Ph.D. from the Sorbonne.</p>

<p>With his keen appreciation of the written word Dr. Lazar made the decision to share his books and papers with future USC students and faculty.</p>
