So a short background. I’m on my 3rd year of college, 1st year I got mono and didn’t know it until the later and when I found out in the end of my 2nd year. I promptly appealed for a Retroactive Withdrawal by recommendation of my advisors at my school. The appeal was approved as I had medical doctor letter and a psychiatrist letter since I went to a mental facility thinking it was something mental that was causing me problems with school.
When it was approved I was put on academic probation since 2 semester were made into Withdrawals, so on my transcripts you would see for the whole 1st year 10 “W”, then 2nd year I completed my classes as normal before my appeal was approved. Onto 3rd year my appeal is approved and i’m on academic probation. The requirements were that I was to pass 77% completion for this semester and unfortunately it was pretty difficult taking 2 math classes and physics which is the only course that i’m not passing.
My advisor said that if I drop or fail the physics class it will mean losing financial aid for future semesters until I get back to 67% completion rate for all classes. Because of the Retroactive Withdrawal I only have (29 credits earned/62 credits attempted) for 46% completion rate which means I would probably never be able to get back to 67%.
Are there any other options that people might have in mind? I thought about community college, but I would have to pay out of pocket probably with SAP transferring over i’m guessing financial aid would be denied either way. The school I go to currently is 14k per year, so it would be honestly really difficult for me to pay that every year. My financial advisor said if I could at least get a D in the physics course then all will be fine, but it’s hard to say where I stand in the class since my professor doesn’t upload grades I just know it isn’t that great. Thanks for reading and I appreciate any responses.
