HELP! Yesterday, I received a package in the mail from the USPS. It was totally beaten up and stomped on, and the sender address was illegible. I opened it up to find my transcript and letters of recommendation. It turns out that it was going to one of my safety schools and was to be mailed out a few weeks ago. I was already accepted to safeties that I like much more, and, at this point I most definitely wouldn’t attend this particular school if I was accepted. Should I even bother re-sending the package? It was due on 12/1 and I applied EA. I probably wouldn’t have a chance of getting in anyway at this point because everything is so late. Should I withdraw?

If you have admits to schools you prefer to attend…
you can either withdraw your app to this school or

…put the whole package(including the grungey envelope) into a fresh envelope and send it…so the school adcom sees it was misdirected mail and came back to you…

Be sure to clearly address it and be sure there is enough postage.

I’m confused. Wasn’t the sender you or your school? If the sender’s address was illegible, how did you get it back?

You already know what to do. Since this school has dropped off your radar, send them an e-mail withdrawing your application, and save the admissions office some aggravation, time and money.
