<p>Hey guys, i was a spring 2011 admit at cal and have decided to reapply to the uc’s, with the intent of going to ucla. I’ve heard that it might be possible to guarantee myself a spot at berkeley as a returning student if i sign up for classes then drop them. Essentially, i’d be guaranteed a spot for fall 2011, does anyone know if this is true?</p>

<p>You should find the continuing students policy for CAL. I know for some UC’s, it’s required that you must be enrolled for at least 2-3 weeks of instruction. </p>
<p>The catch is most institutions require you to drop no more than 7 days after the first day classes begin without being charged registration fees. So, yeah, you could trick the system by staying registered and being deemed a continuing student, if you don’t mind paying +$3.5k in registration fees.</p>
