Revelle Dorm Recommendations

I am an incoming Freshman attending Revelle in the fall. I want to make my living space, well livable, because they are pretty awful. I want to put wall decals on my wall and I was wondering if you could because I know you can not paint the walls. Also what odd things that you wouldn’t normally think of would you recommend bringing? Im the oldest child in my family and really have no guidance with these kinds of things.

Yeah, you can put pretty much anything on the walls as long as it doesn’t leave intense marks. I think the walls in revelle are cinder block so make sure you bring strong tape or whatever to hang stuff up.

For other colleges, toothpaste and white out fill in holes left by nails.

I would recommend bringing a foam pad for your mattress. I got a temperpedic one at Costco and it was seriously the thing I was most grateful to have in the dorms. (I talk about this allll the time if you read other threads, hahaha). Bring less clothes than you think you’ll need, you won’t end up wearing a lot of them and you won’t have space. I had to send several boxes of stuff home.

Revelle’s not that bad … I can think of some other dorm rooms I’ve seen at UCSC and Cal and they were much older, smaller, and had really gross common (floor-wide) bathrooms.

^Seconded… have you seen the UCSB dorms? shudder

they’ll have poster sales on the sungod lawn, library walk, and other places quite frequently, so you can fill up space on your wall with those. granted, they are really expensive posters, but its still an option.
although i’m a muir student, i work in revelle and spent a lot of time in my friends suites over there, and they had super cute rooms. everyone had tons of pictures on their walls and posters, and drawings, etc.

I heard argo is the place to be at in terms of which revelle dorm hall to be in? Something about family and community.

blake’s a smaller (and quieter) version of argo. but i lived there and thought it rocked, so i’m kinda biased. then again, we all are.
