what does being gay have anything to do with anything?

We all know who you are, we aren’t stupid…

Sure Brazilian is a bit of a punk…

But don’t make some general statement about how being gay and black is not in any way an inhibitor in life. The things that privileged, suburban white kids take for advantage such as a supportive and encouraging family and an academically rigorous environment, the crucial factors in getting places, do not come easy. One of my good friends here is gay. And at the moment, he is going through hell because his family is attempting to not only sever their communication with him (his crazy Greek father will not even speak to him), but he’s getting letters from distant relatives castigating him for being gay. In addition, there’s the fact that a gay person’s chances of being lonely are much higher because they just don’t have as many love options on the table as other people.

This kid is clearly amazing. It’s obvious that he has a hunger for reassurance (which probably helped in getting him to where he is) – but so what? Don’t be ignorant.

“ru serious man…but like i still dont get it…i know u may not be motivated, but bright, but the fact ur bright, shouldn’t that at least get u by with a solid B…i knew bright kids that didn’t work that hard, and got A-s rather than As if they worked harder”

Well since I feel like one of these people…

Yeah that works in a lot of classes but a lot of high school (at least public) discourages any independent thinking/work ethic and kills your grade for it. Like for me, I consistently wrote A+ essays/research papers in HS but got killed for not making stupid rough drafts, outlines, research notes, etc. So you can have some brilliant minds with 1500+ SATs and crap GPAs because of the system. HS grades are more reflective of your ability to do what they want you to do rather than how bright you are (not saying that 4.0’s aren’t bright, but the 4.0 shows more of the former than the latter).

I appreciate very much that statement janel and ucbhi, I see that you guys understand where I am coming from and rather than saying ridiculous things, you seem to be very supportive and understanding, thank you very much! I think I have an understanding now of where I will be competitive, thank you!

Go have a nervous break down Brazillian. We all know who you are. I showed your posts to some of my black and gay friends, and all are in agreement that you make them look bad.

hahahahaha

i m curious about this kid. everyone here seems to know he is a gay and a black and a brazilian. infact most of them are sure…whats the story behind?
