I feel the need to explain why my transcript is soo bad, I mainly has to do with the fact that I was gay in a very small town in South Carolina, and had to fight the adversities with my sexual orientation and being black in the South.
What are my chances at:
harvard
Yale
Penn
Dartmouth
Stanford
Columbia
Brown
Brandeis
NYU
USC
UCB
UCLA

HYS, Penn - FAR reach
Dartmouth, Columbia, Brown - reach
the rest - probably doable, keep that 4.0 :D

His test scores are exceptional. I dont see why any of those schools will be a far reach as long as he takes challenging courses and maintains a 4.0.
Keep at it, apply as a junior and you’ll be competitive wherever you apply

HYS/Penn get people with amazing test scores, 4.0 college GPAs, AND 4.0 HS GPAs trying to transfer. I think any transfer there that isn’t perfect is a far reach.

Well, if he still has a 4.0 after next year, I think it would be worth applying, if that’s where he wants to go

i was thinking Penn and brown would be easier for me to get into than many of the others…Is that correct?

yeah, both of those schools are known to be transfer friendly

how did ur sexual orientation and race play a role in your grades?

You guys, you all fell for it. It’s that same poster Brazillian something… He just made a new screen name. This kid is a creep. Nobody cares if he is gay or black.

No, it’s not correct for you. Adcoms are smart. They will see that you are a shady character through your essays and the very fact that you want to use your race and sexual orientation as an excuse for your poor grades will cause them to throw your application out without thinking twice.

SAT - Critical Reading- 800
Math-770
Writing-800

is this a joke?

how could u be testing off the charts like that, and have such terrible grades???

that doesn’t look good for u

“You guys, you all fell for it. It’s that same poster Brazillian something… He just made a new screen name. This kid is a creep. Nobody cares if he is gay or black.”

oh yeah the guy thats at Brandeis and has connections at Brown and Penn.

It is not that hard to believe, bball. He was not doing that bad. And even so, one’s testing abilities is not contingent on his academic performance.

It’s true. I had a 2.7 high school gpa and got a 1580 on the SATs.

ru serious man…but like i still dont get it…i know u may not be motivated, but bright, but the fact ur bright, shouldn’t that at least get u by with a solid B…i knew bright kids that didn’t work that hard, and got A-s rather than As if they worked harder

the sat is not very acurate. i did horrible on it and i am usually in the top 3 of most of my classes.

now back on topic. even if this guy is fake, it is pathetic to use race or sexual orientation as an excuse for poor grades. he deserves those grades if he is that insecure.

why are u ppl biased on that guy? whats wrong with him being a brazilian, gay or a black?
i think that kid did well in SATs and stand a good chance for transfer admission. and he also has a 4.00 GPA in college.

Gay, black, and in the South. God, that must suck. There seems to be some fad lately with using homosexuality and being black to get a leg up, that or the Brazillian guy is laying one down on us again.

Also, where’s the college stats? All I see is high school stats.

who is “Brazilian?” Im not Brazilian, Im black, but I am going to learn Portuguese, and no, my stats aren’t incorrect thank you very much, they are VERY accurate, I know you may find it hard to believe, god forbid there be a smart black guy! You guys are very callous and insensitive, whatever. I came for advice, not to be badgered! I don’t get it, all of these posts that I read all have some form of “drama” in them, Isn’t this like a college advice forum? What’s the Problem?

the problem–ur trying to gain admission off ur race and orientation rather than ur academic merits (which aren’t bad at all, they are good)

good luck, i wouldn’t write an essay about that as a justifcation for yoru high school grades
