Hello!
I am currently in the 10th grade, and am beginning to think about how my Academics and ECs would be viewed by college admissions officers.
While I am aware that my resume certainly isn’t “out of this world” or on the playing field of very high level universities, I haven’t gotten far on determining where my numbers and ECs would get me besides ruling out HYPs/Ivy Leagues/Extremely selective.

Should be noted: Have not participated in high school sports. I’m looking for a way to do sports out of my HS since I missed some of the tryout deadlines and I am mainly looking to do the sports for physical fitness and to show that I’m busy (making good use of my time).
Also, I have had perthes legg-calve disease, which resulted in an abnormal shape of the ball of my left hip. I can participate in running, calisthenics, and weight lifting with minimal or no hip pain, and I have passed my PT requirements for USNSCC.
Where perthes comes into play is that I should avoid sports tough on my hip, such as running on hard surfaces for extended periods of time or sprinting. My aerobic capacity is perfectly fine, and I do alright on 1/1.5/2 mile runs. This is an improvement from my childhood, where from ages 8-12 it affected me a lot more, as the hip was still reshaping. . I did not play sports at the time because of it, and never did just because I felt like I was too far behind to “start.”
I can and have passed standardized PT tests with the tables of requirements.
I have been interested in attending USMMA or USNA, but found out that red-green colorblindness is a disqualifying factor (I’m mildly red-green color blind).
I would note, however, that I would be interested in joining the Navy as a restricted line / staff officer in the field of Naval Intelligence, which I’ve heard involves some shore-duty station (potential waiver?)
How would this look for West Point (only academy I’m aware of that allows partially color blind cadets)
Any suggestions for Extracurriculars/Sports? Would joining my school’s ASB for 11th grade help establish my competency in organized tasks/administration, or would it be futile?
