I made the above post a wiki that anyone can edit, so please post additions in there

What does that mean?

I think anyone can edit.

Correct. Updated post to make clear

I have updated the info about boarding and day visit days. If anyone has information about additional schools please update. Thanks.

Hopefully all of us we will be looking at this thread this weekend

do you know the dates for Kent by any chance? nothing on their website.

No idea. Everyone is editing the original post based on schools that have publicly emailed or posted their dates somewhere. I would try to find 2022 or 2023 dates as schools tend to have similiar dates every year. All schools appear to be last week of March and/or first week of April

Schools will give you details on revisit days with acceptances. No need to worry that you’ll miss them!

Many schools have the same revisit days in the first week of April. April 4 and 5 my son has MCAS, so he can’t miss school on those two days.

He got in three schools but can only revisit one school. Does anyone else face the same dilemma?

We applied to schools without visiting them at all because we are “three states from Texas” so none of our schools’ days are actually "re"visit days for us (outside the school our eldest currently attends). It helped me to get perspective to remember that a lot of international students are stepping foot on the campus for the first time after they’ve already enrolled! I know it doesn’t make it better, because it can feel like you’re lacking the information to make a fully informed decision. Most of the schools are pretty good about giving you an outline of what is on the agenda in advance, so you don’t feel like you’re missing out too much.

Also, I sometimes think I get a pretty good feel for the tone of a place when I email a person in the admissions office with a real question that can’t be answered just by looking at their website. Since most of revisit days are just “vibe checks,” that may be a good strategy for a frustrating calendar situation?

If you explain your situation, some schools will set up a shadow day that isn’t on an official revisit day. You can understand why they wouldn’t want to do this for everyone, but it’s a better way to assess vibe and fit than not going at,all. Worth a try if it’s simply a matter of unworkable dates.

So true! We were lucky to be able to come to the US to visit schools the summer before our daughter applied, but there were no students on campus, no classes to visit, etc. It was not exactly the same as what you mentioned, but not being able to go to revisits made it very hard to decide which school was the “right” choice. She is very happy, but it was tough for sure!

Not on revisit days, no. It’s only for accepted applicants

Thank you! My son applied as a day student to all the boarding schools because we live only 20-30 minutes away, so we really took the visits for granted. It must be really hard to make a decision on the school without being on campus. We went to a few open houses and could already feel the vibe. For example, we dropped Nobles after attending their open house.

I agree. My older son applied during Covid and several schools did not allow campus visits at all and the rest only allowed them when students weren’t on campus. Really hard to get a sense of campus vibe.

Oh, that’s important context. if you’re a parent of a day student, you really do get a lot more out of visits, since you’ll be around campus a bit more frequently and working with the people on campus in person, as opposed to mostly email and phone calls. What a mess, scheduling them for local test days. Boo!

gardenstategal, as always, had a great suggestion that never would have occurred to me to ask for last year. An off-calendar shadow day may be the best of all possible worlds. Brilliant, if the school(s) would accommodate the request!
