Revisit days - what to expect

I’m at my D’s school now along with hundreds of other parents. But I’m so flabbergasted by your response about race - especially African American females on another thread I’m pretty much now hoping you don’t ever get a chance to figure that out.

I love SW too. Theoretically they have a “youth” fare that you can tap if you call them, but I’ve never had to because the rates have always been low. I book when the airfares of dirt cheap and if my D needs to adjust her schedule I do that.

Sign up for Southwest’s DING program if you haven’t. It sits on your laptop and “dings” if they have unadvertised fares on flights with excess seat capacity. I once swapped out an existing flight (paid months before) for an unadvertised fare on the same flight that was $100 less. Then used the “credit” to book a ticket later in the year.

You can program it to watch up to 10 airports (Hartford, Boston, Nashua, etc.)

Well I had that DING thing once and could not for the life of me understand what it was supposed to do… Now that you have educated me I will try it again. I was using the old fashioned way of just checking the website frequently…Thanks Exie.

The southwest wing icon sits on your desktop (or on a mac it sits in the dock). When a little envelope appears on the wing, it means they’re posting specials. Click on the icon and it will open a special browser window that shows what flights have what airfares.

They’re “hidden” rates so you can’t find them going through the regular website. They post specific flight #'s and for specific days (or groups of days) with a deadline for getting the rate. (usually the rates are for flights within the next couple of weeks - or within the next month).

When you’re in DING you can select up to ten airports you want to watch. The list is on the left and you choose which ones you want by moving them to the empty box on the right. Then southwest will keep your preferences until you change them and send you only notices on those specific airports.

:-)

P.S> I still use the regular site to book my flights. I used DING as a back-up in case the rates fall or in case I’ve been wanting to go somewhere on “impulse”. Since there’s no penalty for changing or canceling a flight segment I was able to swap a higher fare for a lower one last year on the outbound segment of my trip.

Hmmm…will have to dry the ‘ding’ thing. Sounds great! Hope others post on revisit days…will be coming up soon. Good luck to you all!

Good idea 2kids - it might be helpful to next year’s applicant pool if we post our experiences with revisit days…

Are waitlisted students asked/eligible for revisit days?

Not in our experience.

Waitlist - no, they are not eligible.
