Can your parent revoke / stop you from receiving fafsa after the application has been processed ?
FAFSA is an application. It does not give you anything that your parents can revoke.
If you qualify for the direct student loans they are in your name and your parents cannot cancel them and have no responsibility for them.
Any other aid comes through the school which uses the FAFSA as a tool for determining aid.
You might have a problem if your parents won’t link their tax return to the FAFSA application. Your parents need to understand that they are under no obligation to take a loan offered to them under the application.
Your parents are also not obligated to pay their EFC or any gap in your financial aid as most FAFSA only schools do not meet 100% demonstrated need.
Revoke what?
Did your parent sign your FAFSA with their username and password? If not, it won’t get processed.
Tell us what is going on.
Did you and your parents ALREADY submit FAFSA?
ARe they now mad at you over something and making threats?
Keep in mind that you have to submit every year, so even if they can’t stop this year, they could stop next year.
Any FAFSA that has been submitted now…is using a will file status, and is also using estimates for the 2015 tax year.
The parents could refuse to provide the 2015 tax information or link to the IRS data retrieval tool. This could cause financial aid problems for the upcoming school year.
