Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and I thought I could start of by hearing a few positive responses, I hope, on a matter that has been troubling me recently. So here goes. I was accepted in the freshman class of 2019. I listed History as one of my subjects in my UC application but due to some circumstances, which I detailed in a response to them explaining why I decided to drop it, I could not carry on with the subject. The provisional offer of admission page said that any student who decides to drop a high school course should inform us at the earliest and it will be up to them whether they want to cancel the offer of admission or give the student a revised provisional admission.
So do you really think they will rescind the offer considering I plan to major in Biochem which has nothing to do with the subject. What does your past experience or know how of the admissions policy has to say about this?
It should also be noted that my mid term grades were quite good (although I did not give History) and leave me in good academic standing.
I’ll be awaiting a response and thank you.
I think you’re much more likely to be rescinded if you do not make the notification as required. It seems unlikely that being short a single history class would cause rescission on it’s own unless you fell short of UCLA entrance requirements.
I made the notification as required(an essay explaining all the legitimate reasons) and as for the entrance requirements, I guess I fulfil all of them. It says on their website that applicants must complete two years of history which can be done by their junior year which I have completed( I studied World History at IGCSE level).
Life is offering to teach you a lesson here, on how to deal with uncertainty. This is not the last time important outcomes will be unknown, and as you can see it can be quite stressful.
The odds of finding someone out here with a transcript very similar to yours is slim. UC has published no general rules about when they will or will not rescind based on dropping a class. UCLA adcoms don’t post here.
The sense most people probably have, and that I share, is that this isn’t too serious a change in your schedule. But these are just guesses, not answers you can rely on, unfortunately.
Yes I can understand. I just thought that by chance I might come across someone who has had a similar past experience or knows something about their subject dropping policy
@Bruin12 I dropped a class and received an email from them saying that my acceptance will not be rescinded. It took around 2 weeks for them to respond.
