rhodes age requirement

I can’t seem to find an answer about the age eligibility for the rhodes scholarship. i’ve seen everything from below 24 years old to below 27 years old - does anybody know what the official age requirement is? why do different countries have different requirements? why is it so hard to find out this information?

and the whole thing revolving around october 1 is bizarre, so someone born in october would get a whole extra year to apply than someone in the same college year?
they should revise it so it’s not so confusing!

for the US at least, it is easy to find the information. >18 and <24 on October 1. See the applicaiton: <a href=“Office of the American Secretary | The Rhodes Scholarships”>http://www.rhodesscholar.org/PDF/2007_application.pdf

Don’t know about other countries. I live in the US. And it is not hard to find out. Took me three clicks just now to find the Australian requirements.

I should have clarified, in Canada there isn’t really an official site, so there are various answers. I think the October 1 thing creates confusion so every university’s website says something different.

eg.
Dalhousie - between 19 and 25
Guelph - under 26
UBC - between 18 and 24
Carleton - under 25
Concordia - between 19 and 25
McMaster - between 18 and 24
McGill - between 18 and 24

interesting that they don’t have a country website, especially with 11 scholarships. Is that right?
