Rhp 2010

Hi umlaut! Congratulations!
We have a Facebook group where you can meet us and some other people more conveniently. If you have a Facebook, just search “USC RHP 2010-2011.”

Thanks jennie! I did the same thing as smoeone from above. I joined the fb group and then unjoined because i realized that joining it became public. And I haven’t told people yet that I’m going even though it’s been a month after admissions. I went to explore this past week and it was completely awesome!! I got to meet 3 other rhp kids so it was pretty cool finally putting a face to all these names. Hope everyone’s explore is just as great.

So I was thinking about applying for this program but I don’t know if I should. How many people apply and how many get accepted?

The main reason that I am hesitant is that I want to go to an Ivy League or Standford but then I heard about this program. My brother went to USC and just graduated earlier this year and the school seems really good. And the fact that they are giving such a big scholarship really makes me want to go.

Do you think I would get accepted with these scores:
SAT 2200 (hopefully, I havent taken it but these are the scores I get when I practice)
GPA 4.0
Took AP Bio last year and got a 5.
Currently taking AP Chem, AP English, AP Calc BC and maybe AP Chinese.

Please reply ASAP because I have to decide. Thank you(:

Last year RHP had 100 applicants and I think (not sure) about half got admitted and now we have 28 people in the program this year. A lot of people who apply are self selective so it’s not necessarily easy to get in to, but it’s not INSANELY hard either.

You have a really good chance of getting in  You should definitely apply. Won’t hurt! If you don’t decide to go, it would be good practice for college apps senior year. Also, remember that it’s NOT binding. So even if you do get in, you don’t have to go. If you’re really set on Ivy’s/Stanford, getting into RHP would be a great topic to discuss during interviews and such. Either way, USC is a good school and applying will benefit you.

How come there were only 100 applicants? No one knows about this program. Its kinda weird, like why would they do that?

And how do they pick who they mail the letters out to? Is it because of SAT scores, PSAT scores, or do they find out about awards that you won? Cause my brother went to USC and he never got the letter that I did telling about this program.

how did you interview? on-campus??

do you think it affects your consideration for acceptance?

me? I didnt interview yet, when do we have to do that?

and can someone answer my question on above please):

I think they mail out letters to people with top PSAT scores (not sure of the exact percentage) but anyone is welcome to apply as long as they have sufficient grades/test scores. I think the website said few grades below A- and a score around 2050? Not sure.

Good luck guys! It’s amazing over here.

I think they mail out invitations based on PSAT scores. My S got 230 on PSAT last year and has received at least 3 letters inviting him to apply RHP. He just got his Oct SAT with 2400. He is hesitating because he wants to go MIT.

Does anyone know if any RHP students are in BMD program? How hard is it to get in as a RHP applicant?

Hey Guys! I am applying to RHP for the 2011-2012 year! I was wondering if you guys could chance me for admission.

Omg you were in a very potter musical? With the guy from glee!?!?

No hahaha! just our school’s version of “A very potter musical”. We did that musical in our school haha.

Are you applying this year too?

Oh hahhhahaha my baddd!
And I was going to but USC isn’t my top choice so I decided not to. Plus I’d have to get my Senior year credits done next semester which meant I would be taking 8 classes which is WAY to much for me to handle

I officially applied for the 2010-2011 admissions cycle! Did anyone else apply? Good luck to all those that applied!

I applied too! Good luck with your application. Hopefully it’ll happen for both of us!

Anyone else?

Sprinkly! did you apply for the Resident Honors Program?!

Why yes I did.

Oh good I hope we both get in! i would introduce myself again but you can just look on the previous page for that post. Its nice to finally find someone who’s applying too. I am still a little worried because called Resident Honors and they have not received my stuff yet.

Stuff is sent. 2180 SAT, 4.47 GPA, and a whole lot of extracurriculars incl. baton and quiz bowl captain. Brazilian (hispanic/latina/south american) ethnicity from SC. Sounds good, right? HAHA. No. My applied major is film production and my portfolio is probably sucky in comparison to some of the other kids’. Does RHP count for anything in SCA’s eyes? Assess me?
