RHS (Resident Honors Program) 2009

Ditto on what Vicki said–can’t see you in the group, Christopher.

I’ve had that dream several times now, Simon.

Currently, I’ve put my anxiety over this on a backburner in my mind. I’m waiting, that’s all really. I’m planning for next year as if I will still be in (sigh) High School. I don’t feel that I’m particularly anxious at this point. If I get in, I will be jubilant, but if I don’t, well, I’m not going to slit my wrists and mope about it. I’ve got a lot going for me at this point–that’s one of the main reasons I don’t want to leave Southern CA anyway–so I’m just delving head-on into my piano exams and teaching violin and studying and working for Habitat and developing my magazine and all the other crap I do. Plus trying to enjoy my life and further my religiosity and hold the close friendships I’ve made.

Huh.
I wrote something on the wall; if it’s invisible, I don’t suppose it particularly matters - I’ll just read what’s written here.

For the record, it seems that we’re one of the most intensely RHP-interested groups ever on CC–none of the other boards were nearly this long nor this well-established. Pretty awesome, if you ask me.

I’ve been able to hold off the anxiety until now, which I guess is why I had that dream. But I should get that letter this week hopefully!
And let’s hope you don’t slit your wrists, Alex…
I shall neglect joining that facebook group until I am accepted (if I am accepted)…otherwise it would be totally laaame.

Topher: I see you, finally! I think you appear invisible to us because we’re not Facebook friends with you :'(

Simon: I HAD THE EXACT SAME DREAM, LAST NIGHT. Must mean I’m getting way too obsessive. oO But eh, a month or two ago, I had this awful nightmare: I dreamed that I got a rejection letter. A double-sided rejection letter. One side informed me that regrettably, I was not accepted to RHP. When I turned it around, other side said that I’m not accepted to USC either. Talk about ouch. ^^
Oh by the way, do you have Facebook?

Edit// Oh, you do have Facebook. At least let me know who you are (ahem, friend request!) so we’re not informationally imbalanced. Pretty please with cherry on top?

Alex: My only regret is that the title says “RHS”. Wahhh.

Alrighty then. Haha that dream is funny…I feel like we are such nerds…dreaming about our acceptance letters to the one college we decided to apply to early ha!

i agree !
and the long standing thing is thanks to me and vicki for just posting to each other in hopes that you others would show up lol.

i can’t wait to visit.

hey guys i was just reading this: myshelegoldberg.com

it’s about rhp and how the class of 02 thought it felt.

Whoa, great, great find!
I’m going to read it too. Thanks!

it was intense, lol. they were like this close-knit community that fell apart.
um, i would prefer, if we all/some did go that we keep it like a community or whatever, but allow some free space to breathe cuz i think that they totally lacked that. it was like this almost restrictive clique.and i know there’s other orgs that i REALLY want to do like ultimate, indian dance, amnesty int, etc.

Yeah, same. I think we should be like a community that helps each other when called upon. But we shouldn’t spend every waking minute together. (I’m saying “we” a lot, but of course that’s saying if we’re all/some accepted/decide to go.) Ideally for me, RHP would be an eclectic collection of people all with unique interests and strengths. We should be like…able to function without each other though, because I for one plan to get involved in the main campus as well. It’s one thing to have “RHP Pride”, but it’s quite another (rather obnoxious really) if RHP kids ONLY hung out with each other. Too cliquey.

EXACTLY! i mean, i can understand hanging out with each other a lot initially to get our footing, but once you fly–fly!
i want to add something to the usc community if i go. and that fountain thing ? a lil intense. and then the relationship thing… i was a little confused at how a romantic relationship can dictate the whole social system.

the drugs and alcohol thing really surprised me though. i get that some kids wanna experiment, but making a meth lab in your dorm? not smart! lol.

okay. to lighten the mood in here (and to distract everyone from the mailings coming this month) let’s talk about favorites! : )
favorite tv show?
favorite book of all time?
favorite movie?

only pick one of each!
and feel free to add to the list if you so choose.
i’ll go first: house , harry potter (yes, it’s corny. but i appreciate it for different things each time. it’s like jane eyre. or any other classic), lorenzo’s oil (this movie about this little kid with a genetic neurological condition…very serious but nick nolte and susan sarandon are in it.)

haha

Arrested Development
Hamlet (partly because it’s the last thing I read)
2001: A Space Odyssey

haha. HAMLET?
i love me some shakespeare, but i wouldn’t put him up there with the boy who lived! LOL

oh wait: my fave movie RIGHT NOW is dead poets society!
dammit, neil, my name’s muwanda ;)

The Office
The Great Gatsby (also the last thing I read, but it was pretty good)
Catch Me If You Can (because Leo is a hottie and the plot was intense ;D)

hahaha I agree, catch me if you can was a good movie, but it included WAY too many sexual things, so it was weird watching it with my cousins and sisters haha

My list would have to be:

Friends (even though it’s over =[ )
Darren Shan’s Cirque du Freak ( EXCELLENT storyline, but spread out through i think 14 books? they’re making a movie, and it’s coming out this year!)

I can’t think of a THE BEST movie now, but I sort of like movies like Finding Nemo
kind of childish i know =P

okay. finding nemo is too old and i watched it in school about a million times (we’d have these random half snow days when teachers couldn’t get to school, but all the kids did. so the subs made us watch pixar movies lol)

try wall-e :)

and i think its wicked refreshing that we all have wayyyy varied tastes.
