The student newspaper at Rice just reported these statistics:
“Rice accepted 13.2% of Early Decision applicants from its record-high pool of 2,970. An additional 100 students were admitted through Questbridge. For the third year in a row, Rice received its highest number of ED applicants to date, surpassing last year’s record-high 2,886.”
This is a significantly smaller number admitted during ED than last year, perphaps because of the new ED II round. But more Questbridge students were admitted this year.
I wonder if the 100 QB students aren’t included in the ~392 acceptances? If they are in there, then ~25% of ED slots went to QB students which seems high, but OTOH this is one important way Rice wants to make sure they get FGLI and URM students.
Last year they admitted 15.3% of ED applicants which was 442 students plus 77 Questbridge. They usually report those separate. I assume that is the case this year too as the quote from the paper above says there was a 13.2% acceptance rate plus an additional 100 QB students. But that is not a lot of admits. 13.2% is only 225 students.
