Rice/Baylor Question

Does anyone know, on average, how many of the students who are ACCEPTED into the Rice/Baylor program come from Houston or other parts of Texas? I assume that would be a good way of clearing up the question of whether Rice/Baylor favors local students. Thanks!

I don’t know about accepted, only about attending, which probably isn’t what you were wanting to know - however, i think that students attending are inherently more likely to be from TX and surrounding areas, since students are generally more likely to stay closer from home. Therefore, if only a very few of the students in R/B are from TX and surrounding states, this would probably mean that only a very few were accepted. Also, about 20 students are accepted and about 18 of them attend, so the pool of attending students is really pretty similar to the pool of accepted students.

That said, of attending students currently at Rice that I know -

1 from NY
1 from MI
5 from TX
1 from NH
1 from CA
1 from ID

So what do we have? 50% from TX and 50% from outside TX, which mimics the entire student body at Rice. Obviously this doesn’t prove anything, since it is a small sample size, but at least now you know that not all R/B students are from TX.

1 from idaho…is his last name Elias by any chance?

nope, it’s a girl - are there multiple R/B students from ID then?
