Just received acceptance off the waitlist 4/28. Intended major is ECE. There is still hope everyone!
@collegeeeefunnnn I got a call with the Houston area code (713) at around 6 pm CST yesterday.
I just got in off the waitlist! I got a call from an AO in the San Jose Area Code (she was calling me from her personal phone). She just told me that there was going to be movement in the waitlist this year and that they only called candidates that sent in an update. She asked me if I had any more updates to give. I just said that I am very interested in Rice, I would seriously consider attending if accepted, and said I believe that I can grow as a leader there in the future. She then said congratulations and offered me admission.

April 4th, and I submitted another short one to let them know of another major accomplishment of April 14th

Did you submit your LOCI and/or update to your regional AO, and is that whom you received the call from?
I submitted it on my portal, not to my AO, and I recieved a call not from my AO, but another one that was working in the same region.
Boom. Rice called at 1900 hrs EST and offered admission off of the waitlist.
White male, 35 ACT, 4.2 weighted GPA, 800 on subject tests.
No hooks, not FGLi, not URM. Basically no chance.
Amen for the pandemic.
Daughter sent brief, heartfelt LOCI with emphatic statement of “if offered, would commit” plus updated transcript to Regional contact immediately upon waitlist and her father(also Rice waitlisted in 1985) received call on his phone 4/27/20 by Regional contact. Daughter turned down nearly $300K Total 4 yr merit scholarships from accepted Universities to attend full fair at Rice. It’s been her dream school her whole life.
Rice University just called, and I was just admitted from the waitlist!

If they call you to say you’re admitted, do you have to accept it and enroll by May 1st without seeing your financial aid offer?
When I asked about financial aid, they told me that I would see my reward soon (not sure how soon) and that my deposit deadline was May 3. It also said this in my acceptance letter.
@“blackbelt2.0” They said they would get into contact with me over financial aid sometime this week.
I just got accepted off the waitlist as well at 8 pm central! Literally uploaded LOCI on 4/27 and got the call on 4/28 so if you haven’t sent it in yet, it’s not too late!
