Yeah, disappointed we didn’t catch a break, but at the same time happy to potentially have this problem. Rice is probably the 6th most expensive school on his list. Rice is a bargain.

@sliu412 It’s okay, what really matters is getting good education. With internet and social media balance is slowly tilting against traditionally well known NE colleges. Top southern colleges are gaining long due recognition.

We are in SoCal. My daughter visited last fall, stayed overnight, interviewed and wrote a detailed essay full of Rice loving details. She made a 33 and 34 on ACT, has 4.5 GPA with plenty of AP and community service. She has been awarded Naval ROTC and Air Force ROTC full ride scholarships to wherever she goes that has either program. Rice hosts NROTC and is crosstown AFROTC with U. of Houston. Don’t know what more she could have done. I have even put in a lot of prayers so I am definitely ready to see the decision. I am more nervous than if I were the prospective student. That is what dads’ do I guess! Best wishes everyone on your decision!

I just started posting today but have followed this thread for months. I want to thank all the contributors who have shared helpful information and encouragement. Your posts have helped allay some of the anxiety associated with this process. Especially want to thank Faulkner who has provided very timely first hand experience and insight!
does anyone know if today is officially the day decisions are going to come out? i’ve seen a lot of discrepancies, some are saying last week of march and some are saying today, as that’s been the pattern the past couple of years. it’s so nerve wracking not being able to know the exact date.
No one knows. In the past Rice decisions have come out on this day, but the wild card this year is that Rice received 30% more applications this year i(n RD) than last year. Last year, Rice sent an email on 3/19 indicating that results would be out on 3/23 at 4:30 pm. But the year before, there was no advance notice that decisions were coming out and they came out on Friday, 3/24 at 5 pm EST. When people called that day, they said by April 1. So who knows? The good news is that the long wait will come to an end soon. I hope decisions are released today!

i just got the email, my heart dropped because i thought it was an email saying they would be released today. tuesday isn’t too far from today, so just a few more days of waiting!! good luck everyone?
I’m glad Rice gave a definite time. Rice probably needs the extra weekend to finalize its review of all the extra applications it received this year and to prepare the packets for mailing. Hang in there and try to enjoy the weekend.

@DCCAWAMIIAIL Last year they sent an email with Owl Days dates almost immediately after RD decisions went out
I am a dad watching the NCAA basketball tournament (Rice women ) playing right now while awaiting my daughter’s decision and I realized this gives new meaning to the term “March Madness!”
@Faulkner1897 That’s my expectation. DD might have to pick between Owl Days and FRC Champs - she can’t miss that much school esp since we going away next week, after her real spring break - due to FRC regional right now during spring break!
@destinymoments My husband is a Rice alum and perennial supporter of their sports activities so he is thrilled that the Rice women made it to the tourney!
