Rice University Class of 2028 Official Thread

If my financial aid is delayed, will that affect how much I get

If I had been admitted to Cornell I will not be thinking about Rice, even if it is an excellent school

Has anyone received financial aid packages?

I haven’t :(, scheduling a meeting with them

Great on the Merit! Your son will be close to NYC and Boston and even Philadelphia. My daughter got Merit to school we jokingly call “in nature”, great school but really “natural”. We are urban too and her dream school Swarthmore is 30 minutes from Philadelphia. She is in public school but am enjoying a school sponsored trip to Europe right now. I don’t want to disclose her itinerary because she is super private.

So you got accepted into Cornell ED? How did you even apply to rice RD?

Congrats to those admitted, it might be more competitive this year. The astrology 100% failed!

For UC Berkeley, the astrology makes 100% sense to me, as we are able to view the student ID. The “Forbidden” theory for UCB admission is more convincing than “withdraw” link for Rice.

Rice just missed a future leader. Lol.

Rats daughter got waitlisted this one really hurts.

So waitlisted at WUSTL and Rice and rejected at USC. Have Emory, Brown and Emory to go but expecting to get shut out by all 6. Ouch!

Congrats to those who got accepted, great school!

Did she applied to any safety ?

Yes they are

Congrats! Would you mind post his stats? We’d like to learn, I have younger one next year.

Thanks!

Daughter was rejected for B.Arch. Stats for next years’ applicants: 1550 SAT, rigorous course loads, midyear GPA 3.9+ UW from an independent school with a reputation of no grade inflation, strong architecture portfolio, essays, and leaderships/extracurricular, national awards.

She’s one of the top achievers at Cornell architecture pre-college program. Is this one of the reasons why she’s rejected by Rice (and WashU) as it might demonstrate prime interest somewhere else? but she’s been accepted by other top architecture schools such as CMU, Syracuse, and Tulane.

Well, we’ve got three ivy decisions to see on Thursday, and that’s all.

Congrats to all admitted students!

I can post mine since I got admitted
3.84UW/4.2W, 36 ACT (made up for lowish GPA)
6 APs (not a lot) but 23 other honors classes and two college classes during a summer
Good essays (vague I know)
Good ECs (research w/national awards, volunteering, job during the weekends, ran a couple clubs)
LOTS of demonstrated interest, but it was all after I already applied

No merit though, probably because of the gpa

Thanks! but more bitter now. My nephew 3.93 UWGPA, 14 AP, 3 CCS, 4 honor courses
Team Captain of varsity team, lots of leader roles out of campus, research, national awards
 Couldn’t figure out

Yeah I get it, I thought I’d get immediately thrown in the reject pile because of my unimpressive transcript. Your nephew certainly was academically deserving of admission as well. I guess college admissions really are a lottery

May I ask if you’re legacy or donor? Thanks for being honest.
