waitlist moved about a week and a half ago (a few students reported getting off)
When I did not accept my offer I received an email stating that:
“The deadline for accepting our offer of admission to Rice University has passed. We have finalized our Class of 2028 with no additional spaces for Fall 2024”
I hope they still take people off but it seems to be that they have filled their class for next year.
For those with kids starting at Rice in Fall 24, do you know if there’s an official parent group?
For O-week, do you just plan to drop them off and leave?
I got an email from Rice Engineering and Natural Sciences asking me to fill out a 13 question mcq quiz that I never completed. It says that the quiz will not be tracked in any school records or has any weighing on what classes I’ll be able to take, but rather as a “reference for our advisors to better guide you upon your arrival”. The dead line to take this quiz has already passed and was wondering if this is something that I should reach out about or if it is what it is?
There’s a Rice Parent Facebook Group.
No. We’re getting to Houston a few days early, buying all the stuff for school and then on Sunday, after we drop them off, there are some sessions/lunch, etc for the parents until 4pm?
I will look for the Facebook group.
I will ask my C to see if he has received any info for O-Week.
Thank you!
The offical parent group on Facebook is the Rice Parent to Parent Network. You can ask to join now but you will likely not be added to the group for a couple more weeks. They usually add new parents right about June 1st. They confirm that everyone in the group is in face a parent/guardian of a Rice student and the registrar needs to provide a list of admitted students to the department that approves the requests to join.
