Does anyone know if it’s possible to get early acceptance into rice during the regular decision round?
Do you mean, do they inform some kids earlier than others - or in essence some level of rolling ?
Do you have a deadline for somewhere or something else that requires you to know ?
Today I saw someone posting acceptance for Rice University so I was wondering if they released it early for certain people
Interestingly, I don’t see a “calendar” on their website which shows a date of release. So it’s possible they stagger - perhaps by college.
You can call Monday and ask - whoever answers the phone will be glad to share an answer. You won’t even need to give them your name. Just say you’re an applicant and you saw online someone had an answer and what should the expected timeframe be.
Honestly, I wouldn’t read anything into it. When they are ready to tell you, they will.
That someone got in and you haven’t heard is likely unrelated to whatever answer you get.
Here is last year’s Rice thread. Unfortunately, it just says March 2025 but no dates.
But it sounds like you’ll know this month - so be patient and best of luck.
The reason why I’m a little worried because the person goes to the school I go to so it might affect my chances. And also, do you think emailing them would help
I think you shouldn’t worry about other kids from your school. It’s unlikely they have a quota or limit per school. Let’s say you don’t get into Rice as statistically you won’t. So what. There’s a zillion other great schools. Rice won’t make your success. You will make you success.
You should wait til you get a decision. I’d call. It’s anonymous. But if you want to email, that’s fine too.
Either way, in a week or two you’ll likely know - and then you can plan accordingly. I’m sure you have alternatives.

If I were to email them, how do you think I should go about it because I’ve already sent them multiple emails about my application about update. And also thank you for the advice.

Let me tell you something - there’s far more than one college you can be happy at. Whether you find out Monday or in two weeks, it doesn’t matter. If they’ve released some, you’ll likely hear sooner.
IF you’ve emailed too much, then call. If that makes you uncomfortable, then wait.
Get your mind onto something else. Once you get a decision - yay or nay - you’ll feel better. Yep, you will even if you don’t get in.
I would not contact admissions about this. Is your classmate a recruited athlete? Regardless, Rice does send likely letters in the RD round, so they might have received one of those (whether or not they are an athlete.) Or maybe they are admitted thru the Vision Program? Lots of possibilities, just be happy for them.

It was March 26th last year - if you click the “March 2025” in corner it gives the specific date.
My S25 was accepted last year and it seemed like there was a big batch all on the same date.
OP, are you sure the other student applied RD? If they applied ED, it’s possible they just didn’t choose to announce it publicly right away that they were accepted.

When my s was accepted, they all heard at once, but it was for ED. Good luck! Go owls!
They applied regular decision. I’m very positive about this.
This is usually how it goes. I’ve never seen someone get an early acceptance in regular decision.

They’re not recruited athlete and the vision program happened I believe last month. These two are the main things that’s confusing me about the early acceptance and also I haven’t seen anyone online post their acceptances which is also confusing me.
Also one other thing the acceptance said that it came on March 7.
There’s nothing to be confused about. Either call and ask who answers, without giving your name - just say, someone posted they were accepted last week. When will all the RD decisions be out?

Let’s say you get into Rice and decide to attend (most who get in RD will turn down Rice and go elsewhere).
You’ll start at the same time/same day - whether you find out this week or in three weeks.
So relax.
