Rich and famous?

Hi,
For the USC question, what is your dream job? D was planning to put “rich and famous”. Does this sound bad?

No expert, but it sounds flippant and shallow to me. Plus it is a non-answer to the prompt. “Rich and Famous” is not a job. I would suggest she put some thought into it and give a real answer. If she is trying so show personality in this question, it falls flat.

For most colleges, not a good idea. But it screams “I belong at USC!”

(Sorry. Couldn’t stop myself. Raised on my mother singing “Time Out! For USC! It’s time to pay . . . the referee!”)

he, he, he – a friend of mine who went to UCLA says that during UCLA/USC football games, all the UCLA people would wave credit cards & car keys at the USC ‘side’…

Some stereotypes don’t die easily.

It’s a really bad idea these days, as USC is trying to overcome it’s “University of Spoiled Children” reputation from the past. I think it would guarantee she receives a rejection from USC, even if it is written “tongue in cheek”.

She did put something else but I was worried that USC’s admission officer might be thinking that she is using her major as a backdoor to USC most competitive major. She does not know what she wants to do yet, she pulled them out of thin air. Thanks for all your comment. At least D knows what not to put.

99cents, my younger D and I recently had a serious talk. She is only a hs soph. She is so smart, but rather immature and does not always apply herself. (She makes her older D so mad, as older D has a huge work ethic, maturity and enthusiam for learning, but not the same inherent abilities.) We chatted about how important it is in life for a D to grow up self sufficient, like her mom. Gone are the days that a D grows up only to find a “rich husband to support her.” Now, marrying well and having choices, like staying home with the kids s nice. But I want both my D’s to be able to be self supporting. My D was quick to reassure me that I didn’t have to worry at all. I anticipated the usual response that she was working hard to fulfill her dream of veterinary school. But no. She told me now to worry, that she would be marrying a very successful rock/alternative band member, able to travel, and would be just fine…

Oh god, I have raised a groupie…

sunnyflorida, you should post that hilarious story in Sinner’s Alley…

haha, D’s BF is singer in a rock band. I’ve seen paying audience in a video from youtube. Not sure how succesful it will be. I did hear some jokes about the kind of songs his band produces. Something in the line of “Jesus loves you” and this guy goes to church twice a year.
