Rick Shaw's personal comments...

Hi. Did Rick Shaw write a personal comment on anyone else’s letter (from him)? He wrote “Please come!” at the end of it…

My sister got that letter, and she’s trying to choose between Stanford and Princeton.

D’s said they were impressed by how many leadership positions she’d acquired in such a short time at the school.

She’s still undecided between Harvard and Stanford.

nope, no special comments sans the one on the counselor letter, which I think everyone got?

Harvard and Stanford? That’s a really tough choice. What does she want to do.

My sis thinks that she wants to get an MBA in grad school and she wants to do finance/psychology or maybe pre-law as an undergrad. She’s all over the place…

Haha. That’s cool. Rick Shaw doesn’t have the best handwriting, so it took me a while to make out what he wrote when I was reading her letter…

She decided on Stanford.

i did not get a personal comment! i am so jealous! why did he leave a personal comment to some and to others none? does he only leave a personal note to the best applicants?

I didnt get a personal comment either…and i find it hard to understand why anyone should(regardless of how good his/her essays apparently were).

Just a thought, though. :P

Um, my letter had a blue ink, hand-writtened, underlined “congratulations!”. Does that count? lol

I didn’t get anything on my letter…I guess I’m worthless in Rick Saw’s eyes lol

From what I understand, they add a personal comment to letters adressed to very strong applicants - those few they know for sure will have to decide between several top universities. The whole idea behind such letters, especially “likely”- letters, is to try and convince those students that the university really wants him/her.

A very strong student who chooses to attend will not only raise the intellectual level on campus - but it makes the college look better since good students=better statistics=makes xyz college look better when compared to others.

:)

I got a personal note, yet I didn’t get into any top 10 university (as per USNews rankings) besides Stanford. They may have missed the mark on this one :)

um, just a question
how does someone get in contact with the admissions office through email? i have an update to my resume since i submitted for early action (national shotokan champion) and thought it’d carry a lot of weight if added (especially for stanford). I used the contact us link but I got an automated response… anyone have any suggestions?
