Rigor at University of Chicago

I was wondering how horrible the work load at University of Chicago is (specifically for science majors). I’m definitely up for a challenge, but I don’t want to be out of my league. I have a 4.1 GPA at my high school but it isn’t the most academically challenging. Our entire English department is an absolute joke and we haven’t gotten a graded essay back since Sophomore year. My writing for the SAT was only a 530 which is horrible. Assuming I do get in on the slim chance, would I be able to handle it?

The writing SAT subscore is not considered in admissions decisions. (Nor should it be - it’s useless)

The University of Chicago will view your GPA, extracurriculars, and other important factors. You will not be accepted/denied based on your SAT Writing Score:)

I personally believe that once someone is at UChicago, in general, you are offered support for academics-basically, the school does not want you to fail…therefore, you will receive all the help you need.

As for handling the writing, I believe that UChicago’s essays are a show of your creativity and style of thought…you may want to practice writing essays via an online course or by yourself.

If you feel that badly regarding your SAT Writing Score-just re-take it.

Good luck!
