Rigor of Curriculum

In general, how difficult would it be to maintain a 3.5~3.7 GPA? (For the GE requirements)

I am planning to major in Political Science and I’m not much of a partier.

probably not difficult, people who party hard can still maintain that gpa

The rigor of the curriculum all depends on various things. Having good study habits is a must. Some people don’t have good study habits so the course load can be difficult especially since in most classes there’s very little/no homework to help boost your grade you really need to know the material. It also depends on what classes you’re taking. Some tend to be more difficult than others especially if you happen to be less able in a particular subject area. People who aren’t very good in math shouldn’t load themselves up with chemistry, math and physics at the same time. Same with people who don’t enjoy having to read a lot and write papers. It takes balancing your schedule (academic and social)so that you don’t end up brain dead…unless you like the challenge. :] Plus being on probation isn’t fun, it happens, but definately not fun. Taking advantage of resources like CLAS, academic advising and your professors and TA’s office hours would also be a good idea.

Mainting a high GPA shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Ratemyprofessors can be good in checking out your professors, but it shouldn’t deter you from taking a class just because the prof is hard, the class is boring. It’s opinion based so it should be taken into consideration but not be the sole reason as to why you won’t take a certain class. You might end up thinking the opposite.

Well that was my input hope it helps a bit.
