In an email with a Michigan adviser, I was told that it would be beneficial for me to take at least 4 “rigorous classes,” can someone explain how to identify such a class?

Rigorous courses, meaning honor courses or AP courses.

In general, your Michigan adviser is telling you to not fully slack off your senior year. Take some courses that require some work.

oh sorry.

I was speaking in reference to freshman year at Michigan.

Also another question, I was under the impression that we sign up for classes at or after orientation, am I correct?

Or can we start signing up for classes online right now?

You can sign up after orientation. At orientation you meet with your advisor, who tells you how to make your schedule.

By rigorous classes, I think they’re telling you to take classes like Math, Econ, Comp sci etc, rather than easy classes like “History of Music” etc etc or Phys Ed classes.

Just take what you want. Don’t worry too much about it.
