Rio Olympics 2016 - schedule and discussion

Malachite green? We used it in our pond to treat fish. Just kidding.

Quite interesting watching coverage in Asia. One Chinese station had gymnastics live. I saw full US floor and beam, one parallel bar competitor and every Chinese gymnast doing every routine. Couldn’t follow any commentary as my Chinese is minimal. The commentators talk over the floor exercise music. I missed not hearing the music that accompanied the routines, but verbal commentary was non-stop and music not audible at all.

The English language station I found covered synchronized diving and equestrian, no gymnastics at all. The swimming coverage on the English language station is good. Heats, semis, finals. Commentary is good; interesting to hear commentators other than US based. No extra hype for US, actually very balanced all around.

Thanks, @Momofadult - that makes sense.

Michael is crying

BTW, interesting explanation of the reason for all the glam and glitter on the women’s gymnastics outfits https://mic.com/articles/137322/the-2016-usa-olympics-gymnasts-team-outfits-are-here-and-they-re-badass

ā€œthe blinded out leotardsā€

I guess my spellcheck didn’t like my use of the word blinged.

So glad Phelps got his gold. And I admit I’m glad he beat that South African guy ho was too into gamesmanship. But why was Phelps laughing so much on the medals stand? I must have missed something.

Maybe he’s happy.

I enjoy getting to see baby Boomer coverage. Too cute!

Did you see it? He did seem happy and emotional, but then suddenly he doubled over laughing. I thought maybe something happened in the stands.

Will noise-cancelling headphones be the go-to baby gift for the next year?

Sorta sad that they are saying ā€œat 31 it’s not about speed, it’s about enduranceā€. Well that 31 yr old apparently has both.

@lotsofquests I see tons of headphones on babies at music festivals I go to. They already are all the rage. Might be a good gift to get for the next baby shower.

Woo hoo! Amazing!

Where does one get them? (I’ve got a baby shower to go to the day after I drop off S)

Woo they just said the women’s gymnastics leotards cost $1200 each!!

And Aly Raisman looks like she has a permanent wedgie. Seriously how can she compete in that?

@m0minmd They look like they are available pretty much everywhere - Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target…

Found 'em and bought 'em. (via Amazon). I’ll have them Thursday.

@surfcity , I just had the same thought about Ally. Guessing she’s had so many wedgies she’s numb! I can’t stand her parents though. I wish the media would quit dwelling on their theatrics!

Phelps is a Baltimorean through and through! Loved the Orioles mention and the local tradition during the National Anthem.
