he and Tara were on one of the cable broadcast channels today with Dan Patrick (I think that was him) and they did a bit on fencing and had a video from their room of them swimming in the bathtub. I did not find it as amusing as they did.
No worries, BB. The one I’m looking at has no heat and yes, I’ll clear it with my docs
@momof3sons yup. I saw another one this morning that said XXX, wife of YYY, wins medal. (I can’t remember what it was for, just saw it in passing.) UGH!
Earlier this year I was having some PT for an ankle and the therapist suggested cupping, which I declined. But several of the San Diego Padres went there for therapy in the off season and some of them did get the cupping. So I knew right away what the big red dots were!
Ok, this is cute. Phelps’ son, Boomer, slept through his dad winning the gold last night: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/michael-phelps-baby-asleep_us_57a8b7dce4b06adc11f0b22c?
Has anyone found a site where we can watch replays? All I can find on NBC’s site is highlights but I want to see, for example, the men’s gymnastics that I missed today.
ETA: Nevermind. I figured it out. I was on the wrong site completely… lol
What site is it? I looked on NBC’s site and even for the 4x100 men’s relay they cut it up a bit. Very frustrating.
Um… I think this? http://www.nbcolympics.com/live-stream-schedule/swimming?day=2 (I just pulled up swimming)
I was looking for gymnastics which seemed to be more of a stream than a replay of a broadcast.
ETA: I also figured out that you can watch coverage on CBC’s site. You do need to download an extension to unblock the site (it’s only available in Canada). I use Hola Unblocker.
A bit off topic, but best commercial so far of the Olympics coverage is the Farmer’s spot with the dogs doing synchronized swimming in the flooded living room.
No, it is on topic!
I love some of the commercials. The Firestone one where the four tires turn into runners or butterfly swimmers depending on the weather is well done.
I think they need more material to make the swimsuits. (diving)
Seriously, does Ryan Seacrest have to be EVERYWHERE? It’s bad enough he is the reason the Kardashians are forced fed upon us, but what exactly is his connection to athletics? So over this coverage. Can’t even watch diving with the insufferable Cynthia Potter.
Did anyone see Aly Raisman’s parents in the stands? I cannot imagine the stress of having an athlete at this level… especially in something as potentially dangerous as gymnastics.

My mom absolutely refuses to watch diving because she is convinced they’re going to hit their heads on the board. It’s probably a good thing her kid (me) is afraid of heights ![]()
What year was it when Greg Louganis did hit his head on the board, it caused an open wound, and it led to his ultimately disclosing that he was HIV + ? I found it-- 1988.
Back in the 80’s, there was a Russian diver who died after hitting his head on the platform. I believe it was the World University games. That may be what your mother is remembering, @romanigypsyeyes .
Ouch- I didn’t know about that. I knew about the Greg Louganis hit but not about the Russian diver. I guess her fears aren’t unfounded.
It’s been, what, two days?, and I’m already sick of synchronized diving and beach volleyball. Synchronized anything must go!
I have a friend whose daughter does synchronized diving. She is young (15 ish?) but did make the Olympic trials this year.
We had friends whose children both made JR Olympic training for riffle. Both never made it to the Olympics but both are now engineers.
@romanigypsyeyes Aly’s parents are famous from the last Olympics. Knowing every move and nuance of their daughter’s routine have them "performing " it along with her. They are both hilarious and nerve racking to watch. The NBC cameras are trained on them when Aly is up.
I dated a guy who was an alternate on the Olympic fencing team… Except the year he was on the team was the year (1980) the US boycotted the Moscow Olympics
D was in the fencing team in college. The best person on the team was from France–I wonder if he’s on their team? He graduated before D.
