RIP Ed Koch

NYC is a bit darker today without him to light it up.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/02/nyregion/edward-i-koch-ex-mayor-of-new-york-dies.html?hp

He was a funloving politician. Not too many of those around. RIP Ed.

I used to share an elevator bank with him. What a wonderful man. Something that may not have been as noticeable in his public persona is that he was an old fashioned gentleman in his personal dealings.

agree…what an astute mind and feisty personality.

Enjoyed listening to him when he’d be on TV. Prayers for his family as they grieve.

As a NYC resident for much of Koch’s tenure, I have to say that I loved him. I did not always agree with him, but I found him sincere, caring, intelligent, and entertaining. Peace to his family.

Ironic that the documentary of his life opens today:

http://movies.nytimes.com/2013/02/01/movies/koch-neil-barskys-documentary-on-the-former-mayor.html

My mom loved Ed Koch. She used to write to him frequently, giving her opinion of his latest speech or initiative, he always responded with a short handwritten note!

I always thought that Ed Koch was BORN to be the mayor of NYC.

I was a fan. I enjoyed his radio show he did with D’Amato

H, fresh out of law school, worked in the Koch administration in the '70s, and absolutely loved the guy. We were very sad to see the news.

He was a fixture of NYC during my young childhood and loved his pitch for NYC.

However, there were some things I disagreed with him about…such as his endorsement of Vladimir Putin’s excessive and overreaching punishment of a female punk rock band for their protest of Russian Orthodox Church’s increasing political and social dominance over Russian society. Especially when that dominance had serious ancien regime authoritarian overtones.

I wished he could have been the mayor of Chicago.
