RIP Garry Marshall

Your acting, directing, writing, producing will be missed. Happy Days, Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, etc… RIP.

Mork and Mindy, LaVerne and Shirley … And more.

Oh no! I went to school with his daughter Lori. My roommate roomed with Lori as well. Nice family. They’ve given very generously to our school over the years.

So sorry to hear this. I have such great memories of those shows.

So sad. I really liked his earlier TV shows and movies. When I saw him on TV recently, promoting his latest movie (don’t remember the titile), he didn’t look well.

Loved all the shows and movies that have been mentioned so far, but let’s not forget Beaches. I have never cried so many ugly tears at a movie. He was a master of what it takes to move us to laugh and cry.

If you haven’t read it, his biography is hysterical, it is as funny as his movies or he was in person. One of my favorite memories of him was when he was the head of programming on “Murphy Brown” and he was showing these ridiculous sounding shows, and some of them were shows he himself either had actually produced or pitched, like “Me and the Chimp”, so he wasn’t afraid to laugh at himself, too. I always wondered what his family holidays were like with himself and his sister (Penny Marshall), must have been a hoot.

W and I recently enjoyed our annual summer watching of A League of Their Own…RIP “Mr. Harvey”.
