Early reports had said that some of the staff at Yorkville thought Joan had brought her “makeup artist” with her to the procedure. I thought that was one of the more bizarre things I’d read. Now that I see this doctor is a woman, I wonder if they assumed this person was a makeup artist rather than MD because she was a woman, or because she had an unprofessional manner and appearance. It seems she likes to take care of celebrities and has had plenty of them as clients. Why, then, would it be necessary to take a selfie with Joan while she was asleep rather than awake, which I imagine Joan would have been more than willing to do? The plot sickens…

I don’t know whether it’s stranger to bring a makeup artist to a medical procedure or to bring a “personal” physician who looks and acts like a makeup artist.

Melissa reportedly called in 2 makeup artists and a hairdresser while JR was in the coma because she was having visitors. and would want to look done.

My mom would ask me to do something similar for her.

Ditto! Only my problem couldn’t have been cured by makeup. I didn’t gain much weight, but I looked really swollen! I will avoid comparisons to marine animals, but I hate that photo.

I think it shows what a loving daughter Melissa was to make sure she did this for her mother. She also had her mom’s room decorated . My mom died at 87 and didn’t wear makeup except for lipstick occasionally if she was going out . but always liked to have her hair done. The woman from her “beauty parlor” came to the funeral home to do her hair and we will always be grateful.

Dr. Korovin is probably the most respected ENT in NY for Broadway actors. She has (had) a terrific reputation. The comments I’ve seen this week on FB posted by actor friends who have been her patients for years are filled with shock about these allegations.

^^^Well, with all this “he said, she said,” much of it from anonymous sources who really aren’t supposed to be talking if they were part of the medical team, it’s hard to know.

If this stuff is true, she has screwed up royally and will pay a very hefty price, her qualifications and talents notwithstanding.

I honestly can’t say I blame her. Often times, the only way to know the whole truth of the matter is to sue and start the depositions. If I’d heard that someone had taken a selfie with my unconscious (and therefore completely vulnerable) mother, I’d be livid as well and would want to hear sworn testimony as to all the events.

In no way am I defending any of the actions of the doctors involved or the clinic. But I would assume that Joan brought her own physician to the clinic to make sure that the procedure went well and for moral support. When something suspicious was seen that needed to by biopsied, I imagine the physician thought she was stepping into the role that Joan would have wanted. Clearly a biopsy should have been a separate procedure done in a hospital, so a wrong decision was made. The outside specialist was a renowned doctor who had a relationship with Joan. As for the selfie, I would imagine that it was taken as a gag shot. I’m sure the physician was planning to show it to Joan after she woke up as a joke. Unfortunately, that is not the way it was fated to turn out, so it gave the whole thing a macabre twist.

The celebrity doctor “categorically denies” both the selfie and the reported biopsy. E did a Fashion Police marathn and tribute show yesterday. She really was awesome!

^^^^That doctor is 55 years old. She KNOWS you cannot do procedures in a facility in which you have not formally attained privileges. She might as well just get her checkbook out now and start writing if she in fact did a biopsy in that facility. Because she doesn’t have privileges there, it’s pretty much a given there was no written informed consent for that procedure.
