RIP Leonard Nimoy

Leonard Nimoy, the original (and best) Spock, apparently passed away this morning.

As a huge Trekkie nerd, this is a blow. My dad used to call me Spock when I was younger because I took everything too seriously. My thoughts to his family and loved ones.

I’m afraid to call dh at work and tell him. Seriously.

I kind of saw this coming earlier in the week when he was hospitalized, but sad, nonetheless.

Spock was the entire reason I watched the original Star Trek. And his appearances in the later shows and movies were always wonderful. How very sad.

One of my favorite quotes of all time was spoken by “Spock” (yes, I know that Nimoy was not Spock, but still) “Without followers, evil cannot spread.”

I rarely feel upset when people I don’t personally know pass away, but I felt like I knew him after watching every single Star Trek thing he’s ever been in repeatedly.

RIP Spock. DH was a serious Star Trek fan…sad day.

For Big Bang Theory lovers…now Sheldon really will have to clone Nimoy from the DNA on the napkin.

I truly hope BBT does a fitting tribute to him. I feel like they have to.

“Spock was the entire reason I watched the original Star Trek”

^^This. So sad (even when it was somewhat expected…)

This is very sad news. I’ve been a fan of his since I was 11 years old. And I loved his work as photographer, too.

Any “In Search of…” fans here? I don’t think I ever missed an episode lol. That’s what I think of when I think of Leonard Nimoy. RIP.

Sad. I loved Spock too. Fascinating old article about him. I saw him Equus on Broadway and thought he was pretty good. I hadn’t realized how much homework he’d done! http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,20068391,00.html

I never met him, but my H had the pleasure of working with this very nice, very intelligent man. I had always been a fan and thought that his humanity always managed to break thru the TV or film screen. I will admit that I got a little blubbery when I heard this upon waking up this morning.

@electronblue yes I used to watch that! It never occurred to me that that was Nimoy for some reason.

Nimoy fans will love this: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=94840366

Very, very sad here also. Remember this? It’s a car commercial but, oh, just about perfect!

Omg, YDS, I know the person he’s “playing” for.

He touched so many people. I think he was the very best of all things Star Trek. Sad news today.

Wow, romani! I’m so sad he lost!

Such sad news. I was a big Star Trek fan back in the day… I saw a very strong photography exhibit of his work severa years ago at Mass MOCA.
