I just saw that & came here to post. I loved the roller skates song … the perfect backdrop for my junior high years.
It’s the one that’s going to get the most mention I think (great song), but I just rewatched and listened to Lay Down, which still gives me chills. 12 year old me wanted to be out there protesting war and going to Woodstock and all that sixties/early seventies stuff.
I went to my first (definitely not last) Viet Nam protest at UCLA, I was 12. With my mother. Se made me hold her hand for safety the entire time. Joan Baez & Bob Dylan played.
I love that song. I really liked Melanie’s music and voice.
I totally get chills listening to this today. I think this song would be a hit today - her Indie vibe is very relevant. RIP. ![]()
Melanie did a concert near me about 5 years ago - it was wonderful to see her in person in a small venue and hear those songs from my youth again.
