RIP Mrs. Colbert

Stephen Colbert’s mother died last week, and he gave a very moving tribute to her on last night’s show:

I hope someone says something simiilar about me someday.

It was a wonderful tribute. The pictures, as well as the words, made it intensely personal. I’m glad that he feels his Mother’s encouragement to step right back into his fake persona.

Beautiful. thanks!

Thanks for posting this. Wonderful.

That was a pleasure to watch - a marvelous woman and a son who knows it.

A very touching tribute. Seems like his mom was a wonderful person. I am writing a condolence card right now for a woman I’ve known for a few years. She was also a very nice woman and I miss her.

My daughter sent me this today…very touching. He spoke of her last year when he took time off when she was ill. You could feel the love and respect they had for each other.
This was last year when there were rumors about his time off and he was with his Mom…funny.

I’ve heard many stories about this woman over the years and she seemed incredible. What a legacy she’s left and what a wonderful tribute.

That was beautiful. Thank you for posting it; I would have missed it.

That was beautiful, and I’m crying. Thank you for posting it, scout59.

Classy man. Son of a classy woman.

Watched Colbert last night and was so moved by his words and the genuineness of his feelings. I felt privileged to see his love and attachment to his mother. What a strong model of manhood.

Some of these stories of his family and Mom were funny and touching:

Debruns, that’s a great article - thanks for posting that. I have always admired Colbert for his wit but even more so for his sense of integrity and his approach to faith.

So have I, I loved his Oprah interview with his wife, he is a very devout man in many ways. I might order that book for my daughter, can get it under 5.00 on Amazon.
