Sick to my stomach. Such an incredible loss.
???
My husband last month bought me some RBG “dissent” earrings. The are modeled on the collar she wears when she had a dissenting opinion. I loved that.
Condolences for her family.
Enjoyed watching the friendship between her and Scalia. Two extremely smart people with very different views on many issues who were “best buddies.”
I am overcome with sadness and worry.
I feel sick. 2020 has been the worst.
Such a great person. She held on for so long. Women everywhere owe so much to her.
I’m just gutted. I agree with the visceral reaction. Like being punched. What a titan. What an inspiration. In between sobs, I tell myself that we have to carry on with her strength, courage, and hope, despite how sad this is .
Indeed! Wish we could get back to that. Hatch and Kennedy. Reagan and Tip O’Neil. Heck, Adams and Jefferson! I fear those days are gone but they are needed for this great nation .
Heartbroken. What an amazing woman. Rest In Peace, and may her legacy live on.
The reaction in my house tonight to the news of Justice Ginsburg’s death has been nothing short of visceral sadness and fear. May her memory be a blessing…
Ruth Bader at Cornell

“Fight for the things you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” Ruth Bader Ginsburg RIP
I am so very sad for her family and for our country. She advanced gender equity in so many ways. We were blessed to have her great mind as an advocate and as a judge, both on the appeals court and on SCOTUS.
I could not sleep last night.
Heartbroken…
I have many books on SCOTUS, a number on RBG, her t-shirt, 2 dissent collar pins and a picture of young RBG taped to my office wall, so I consider myself a “super fan.” I consider watching videos of her appearances to be one of my hobbies, so I didn’t think I would learn much new through all the coverage of her since last night, but Irin Carmon’s very insightful article for New York Magazine proved me wrong. Irin is the young woman who coined the term “Notorious RBG.”
Irin reports that as a wealthy woman in her 80s, RBG could still be spotted at the CVS in the Watergate, where she lived, using coupons to reduce her bill. So close in age to my mother, I often saw the generational similarities, but this little tidbit was a gift to make me thankful for both RBG and my strong feminist mother. My mother would study the weekly ads for bargains and thought nothing of driving from Walgreen’s for some items to the nearby CVS to save 35 cents on an item. I suspect I’m not the only one here would can identify with that behavior in our parents. Such a trivial story, but it just spoke to me in a tender spot.
In honor of RBG’s sense of humor, I hope this isn’t too soon.
“The “Meme Supreme” didn’t mind the attention, happily signing books and taking pictures with fans who approached her, although she thought some of their tattoos of her were “a step too far,” Cohen said. Ginsburg also enjoyed McKinnon’s elastic impression of her on “SNL,” launching the catchphrase, “You just got Ginsburned!”
“She understood that it really wasn’t like her, and yet she still appreciated the comic dissonance to her persona,” Cohen said. “There’s some dialogue, but a lot of it is just raunchy dancing. Truthfully, the raunchier the dancing got, the more hilarious she seemed to find it.”

@anomander, seeing her laugh at Kate McKinnon’s impression ( was it in the documentary or a later interview?) brought me joy.
How very sad.
