I have no idea if anybody knows who he is anymore.
I used to listen to his records.
Maybe somebody remembers Green Christmas.

I remember his Dragnet parodies: “Just the facts, ma’am”: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bBph8e8JlG8
He guest-starred as an evil scientist on an episode of ‘The Monkees.’
Stan Freberg, Vaugh Meader, Bob & Ray…where have you gone?
LakeWashington, I am a big fan of Bob and Ray too.
I haven’t seen all of Bob & Ray’s TV appearances, but my favorite is ‘Slow Talkers of America.’ Their roles as TV reporters Walter Chronic and David Chetley in the movie ‘Cold Turkey’ is hilarious also.
LakeWashington, when you wrote Bob and Ray, the first skit I thought of was ‘Slow Talkers of America’.
Bob and Ray have so many good routines. There is a routine where they provide commentary as the Trans-Continental Railroad is finished. A train is coming from the west and another from the east.
They also performed on Broadway and one of the performances was recorded.
Bon and Ray were great.
Stan Freberg… I like you too.
I was a huge Bob & Ray fan and also appreciate the off beat comedy of Bob’s son Chris, particularly when he worked for Letterman. Another great comedy duo around the same time was Stiller and Meara. They also have a son in show biz and Jerry Stiller went on to play great characters in Seinfeld and King of Queens.
Here they are in their heyday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H–kLKTGzaQ
Ahhhh…Stiller and Meara…interestng duo.
Since we are going down memory lane, I have to mention Tom Lehrer. The guy was a professor.
He has written so many good songs. I guess I wll post this one.
Anyone remember Stiller & Meara’s short-lived TV show (early 1970s, I think). Sad to hear Ben Stiller report a couple of years ago that his mother is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Getting back to Freberg, one of the obits I read said that his radio show in the 1950s was cancelled because refused to let tobacco companies sponsor the show. Boy, was he ahead of his time!
I don’t remember the show. Sorry to read that Ben’s mom has Alzheimer’s . No wonder we never see her anymore.
Yes. Stan Fregerg was ahead of his time. ![]()
audiophile, thanks for the Christmas Dragnet link. It’s great.
Here is one of Stan Freberg’s ads. A parody of the Lark cigarette ads.
