Rising College Freshman Internship Opportunities

Hello,

I am a senior girl in high school, living in New Jersey with very easy access to New York City. I am interested in finding an internship for this summer (paid or unpaid) in any field from lab work (bio/chem) to teaching/education, to social media. I already applied to the HOPP summer program at Sloan Kettering, but as a rising college freshman it is very difficult to find other internships.

Does anyone have any suggestions and recommendations for programs/internships to apply to?

Notes about self: I am in the top 1% of my graduating class, accepted to Northeastern University & Rutgers Honors College. Planning on attending Wellesley College; I hear back from them in 2 weeks.

I looked for some around New York City.

This is the search page to look for opportunities with NASA. They have a location in NYC at Goddard Institute for Space Studies. You would need to commute each day.

I plugged in Goddard and completed 12th grade. Several opportunities came up - 4 for climate change and one for building and designing a robot.

Depending on where you have relatives you could stay with, you can check the other locations.
