It seems most job postings now are immediate, with the exception of finance/consulting jobs which hire a year in advance. What do I do? There are a lot of jobs I like but they don’t specify the starting date. I assume they’re immediate because they have application deadlines in the near future.

Yes, apply right now. If you get the interview, tell them when you will be available.

The reality is it is very hard to get an interview and it might take you 3 or 5 months before you get interviewed.

The jobs with big companies will be most likely to hire you and most willing to have a start date of next March…I’d focus on them.

The problem is there are hardly any big companies coming up in my searches, but I would be on the lookout for them.
