Whatsup all, havent been on here for a looooooong time, but wanted to make myself available for Qs.
Econ major, member of club basketball, west coast club, many other clubs, had amazing stats like all of you coming in, carried it on and succeeded my first year, and most importantly absolutely LOVED it here at pton. Shoot.

Hi there – I guess I’ll be first. I’ll be flying in from Los Angeles, and so far my plans look like I’ll be shipping anything I need from online shopping at Bed, Bath, and Beyond to Princeton. How did you do it? How long was it before your room began to look like your room? Did you have roommates who lived closer who helped with furniture and that sort of thing?

Thanks in advance!

I have a question about club basketball. I want to tryout for varsity but have no idea if I’ll make it. If I don’t play varsity I’m sure I’ll try to do club basketball. What’s it like (skill, competitiveness, time etc…)? thanks

can u just describe the econ major from your perspective/personal experience? how did the large department affect (positively or negatively) your first year experience?

Frozen tears - for shipping, all boxes that are larger than letters are delivered to Frist, where you can pick them up at the shipping and packing agency starting at 1pm on most days. Just give them your room # and you should get them. By this point you will have already gone to baker rink, and McMillan housing, aka the sign in places, to get your keys and prox (ID cards with rifd technology). The rooms will be homey in a couple of days, once papers and clothes start being strewn about ;). And yea, about 30% or more are relatively local (NY/NJ) people with cars, so they can help moving.

AlmostDone - Club basketball actually is very competitive. We have many a varsity drop-out, as the Var coach is supposedly a ■■■■■■. Not only that, but a large percentage on club played JV, and we also have some football, crew and other athletes. We normally have two practices weekly tue/thur at nights for two hours, then saturday games with refs and scoreboards and such. Also we will go around and play other teams; this year i went up to Yale, and also played against Cornell and some other colleges at a tourney we hosted.

Hello123- The econ major, albeit stereotypically princeton, has amazing professors. Except Bogan, who in my experience is an opinionated feminist/liberal, but to each their own. The large department can actually be a plus, as on problem sets and studying the collaboration and intelligence of others is utile.

frozen-tears. Last year UPS set up a truck right in front of Brown (dormitory) for the move in boxes shipped by those of us from far away. The thing to find out is WHEN it will be there. This year it was there before everyone left on OA, so before Frith was available, but I have this vague memory that it was only on the Monday? Hmm. Maybe philntex or someone remembers better than I do, that extra 30 years of youth can be helpful.

Once you get your residential college assignment the people in the res college administration can be very helpful.

also, bbb does a thing for college students where you pick stuff out at your local store and they put them on hold for you at the one closest to your university. that’s what I did and it was super easy.

thanks for the response. do you have to tryout for club basketball?? and are there any specific reasons for why the players dropped out of the V team?

yea we have tryouts, and take around 5 freshmen. the V team is a huge time commitment, and most frosh dont get any mins, plus as i said our coach is a ■■■■■■■■■.

coming in, i haven’t taken many APs (I was in IB at my school). does having to fulfill the three/four terms of the language requirement make it harder to find time to take all the necessary core classes/certificate classes/classes for pure enjoyment?

Sometimes you’ll just have to enjoy the classes you take, rather than take the classes you enjoy …

Weetstreet, I passed out of the foreign language requirement with AP and SAT 2 but I am still taking a language cuz its definitely one of the most useful things. No, you still have plenty of time and the language departments are amazing and small/intimate. I would definitely suggest taking a language class.

Frozen Tears - are your parents coming to help you move in? If so, I would actually suggest you buy your bedding and stuff in NJ. Its easier.
